Electrical machines and the 6th Technological Layout

A simple definition of Technological Mode (TU) is given in Wikipedia: “Technological Mode is a set of related industries that have a single technical level and develop synchronously.”

Over the past 250 years, a change of five technical specifications has been recorded, and it is believed that the world economy has been included in the 6th technical university since 2010, which is characterized by the development of robotics, nano- and biotechnologies based on the achievements of molecular biology and genetic engineering, artificial intelligence and global information networks. as well as integrated high-speed transport systems.

At the beginning of the 20th century, electric motors were already becoming one of the key elements of the 3rd TU. What is the relation of electric machines (electric motors and electric generators) to the 6th TU?

It turns out to be the most direct! To begin with, no branch of the modern economy can exist and develop without electric motors. At the same time, approximately 50% of all generated electricity is spent exclusively on the rotation of electric motors! Considering that energy efficiency and environmental friendliness are the key priorities of the 6th TU, an increase in the efficiency (efficiency) of electric motors and generators, as well as a decrease in their material consumption (reduction in weight and dimensions) will ensure the achievement of most modern tasks.

For example, new, higher requirements are imposed on the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and industrial robots created in the period of the 5th TU and industrial robots, in the already onset 6th TU. In particular, we are talking about a multiple increase in the autonomous operation time and load capacity due to new energy sources and efficient propulsion devices. From the point of view of economy and ecology, the new systems should become much more compact (less material-intensive) and environmentally friendly. The development of composite materials, additive manufacturing technologies and new automated development tools helps in solving this problem. The systems of the 6th TU should also provide new consumer properties and functions, thanks to the combination of the development of artificial intelligence technologies and the improvement of the element base using the “nano”, “bio” and “eco” technologies.

The same can be said about the prospects for the development of all types of electric transport and mechatronics in the paradigm of the 6th TU.
Unfortunately, against the background of the USA, China and the EU, where the share of production forces of the 6th TU is already in the range from 5 to 10%, in Russia it is only a fraction of a percent! The main problem of entering the 6th TR in Russia is a serious technological lag, in which almost all production forces are still in the 3rd and 4th TR! Therefore, for Russia, the transition to the 6th TR is akin to the super task of the first half of the 20th century, when the country managed to make a breakthrough from the technologies of horse-drawn transport of the “cart” type to the advanced space industry.

Electric motors of the EM and iEM series meet all modern requirements and criteria of the 6th TU:

  • Ultra-small weight-dimensions: 5-10 times more compact than asynchronous electric motors
  • Ultimate efficiency – 94-98%!
  • High specific torque for conversion to gearless drives
  • Composite materials and technologies in the construction of stators and rotors
  • Modular design for redundant and scalable drives
  • Precise control of rotation and power characteristics

The most common mistake that many developers in Russia make is, instead of creating a fundamentally new complex system (electric car, robot, pumping station, etc.) based on the developments and technologies of the 6th TU, they are trying “Enthusiasts, within the framework of the” micro-budget “, to” upgrade “the cart to the state of a racing car, supplying a harnessed horse with titanium horseshoes and a carbon fiber fairing. This is how products “have no analogues in the world” are born in Russia.

We offer interested investors and small design bureaus with unique competencies and technologies to cooperate to create new chains of cooperation, which would make it possible to successfully create new products and complex systems that meet the requirements of the 6th TU.
