Russia is faced with the task of recreating the entire aircraft engine industry from scratch, Mikhail Esakov, head of the Elektromoment project, said on September 30, MashNews reports.
According to him, in the 1990s, relevant technologies, competencies and entire factories were lost in Russia. Moreover, with the collapse of the USSR, the main aviation developments remained in Ukraine, Esakov noted.
The restoration of the industry will require from the authorities not only serious investments, but also a systematic approach, the expert emphasized. Profile structures and organizations will have to start with education and science, and not just with the construction of workshops, he explained.
Nevertheless, this task is “quite feasible,” Esakov added. You can start with small devices, with electric motors, he explained. In the meantime, there is no need to talk about Russia’s entering a prominent position in the creation and production of drones, the expert concluded.
